American Choral Directors Association Southern Division Conference
February 2018
SVCC was honored to have been chosen from among 85 choirs who auditioned to perform at the American Choral Directors Association Southern Division Conference February 22-24. Seventy-three members of SVCC Concert Choir, along with 30 dedicated staff and chaperones traveled to Louisville, KY for the conference and performed for an audience of choral directors and other enthusiastic listeners. SVCC's performance was met with a standing ovation and rousing applause, and choristers enjoyed interacting with appreciative audience members after the concert.
In addition to the gratifying performance in the beautiful Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, the trip also provided wonderful bonding opportunities for choristers as they played games, got to know each other better, danced together, and even had an impromptu singing exchange with another choir at the post-concert celebratory dinner! Choristers got to meet Mark Patterson, the arranger of "Shenandoah" included on our ACDA program and also featured in our National Parks collaborative video. His praise for the choir's performance was a special gift.
Thanks to tour coordinator, Kris Shank Zehr, tour "boss" Ethan Zook, all of our wonderful chaperones, and everyone who helped to make this trip such a great success!
